2019 CANUSA CUP

May 30 - June 2, 2018

Same format as 2018.   We will be playing a true Ryder Cup format for the 3 days of the weekend.   Cost: $100 per person for mandatory wagers.   $50 of the $100 will go to a "winner take all" pot for the CANUSA CUP.  If your team wins, you walk home with $100.  If you lose, zero.  The remaining $50 will be split into skins $$.  There will be two skins events -- the singles matches on Friday and Saturday afternoons.  Skins will be natural --- no handicaps for skins.  With that said, we will have three flights -- A/B/C.  Pots and winners will be split up accordingly.  Yes, these are still matches and your opponent may 'give' you a putt ---- but to keep the skins game honorable ---- if you think a putt will win a skin, putt it out.

Make sure you keep track of scores within the foursome and turn in your card after the round.

Thursday:  Optional Practice Round(s)

-          1 round or 2....make it if you can.  Set up any games you want when you get there.

Friday AM: Fourball (also known as “best ball”) – 8 Points Available

-          Match-Play.  Two players from each team play as partners.  Each golfer uses his own ball and records his own score.  The lowest score from each team is used.  Lowest score earns a point for the hole, otherwise the hole is halved.  Handicaps will be adjusted off the lowest handicap in the foursome.

Friday PM:  Singles Match-Play – 16 Total Points Available

-          One golfer from each team plays in a head-to-head match-play contest.   Golfer’s handicaps will be adjusted off the lowest handicap in the match (you or your opponent).

***REMEMBER: SINGLES MATCHES ARE $25 SKINS GAMES INCLUDED WITH YOUR $100 ENTRY***

Saturday AM:  Foursome (also known as “Alternate Shot”) – 8 Pts Available

-          Two players from each team play as partners in a match play format.  Players alternate shots on each hole until one team wins or the hole is halved. Teammates also rotate who drives on each hole (odd vs even holes) to avoid any unfair competitive advantage.  Teams will use a NET handicap that is derived from their respective handicaps.

Saturday PM:  Singles Match-Play – 16 Total Points Available

-          One golfer from each team plays in a head-to-head match-play contest.   Golfer’s handicaps will be adjusted off the lowest handicap in the match (your opponent).

***REMEMBER: SINGLES MATCHES ARE $25 SKINS GAMES INCLUDED WITH YOUR $100 ENTRY***

Sunday:  2 Man Scramble  – 8 Points Available

-          2 Man Scramble combined with Match Play.  Two players from each team play as partners and play against the other country's partners.  Each 2 man team individually hits 2 shots from each location and uses their choice of the two balls.  We will follow the USGA 2 man scramble handicap system: low handicap in the team * 0.35 and high handicap * 0.15.  If Canada is a combined 5 handicap and the USA is a 4, Canada will receive 1 stroke on the #1 handicapped hole.  USGA Rule Link

Winner: 56 total points available.  As the defending champion CANUSA Cup team, the Canadians will need 28 1/2 points to earn the right to bring the cup back up north.  The American team will need to secure 28 points to secure victory.
